OH in London Autumn Luncheon
The Eighth Annual OHiL Autumn Luncheon was once more staged at Doggett’s Coat & Badge, SE1 on Thursday 7th November 2013 and attended by 50 people. This year we were delighted to welcome as our special guest former Master Alan J. Moorse (MA Cantab) who joined the school in 1952 as a language teacher. Alan, now aged 88 and living in Wiltshire, was accompanied by his wife Anne. As well as teaching French and German at the Cathedral School for 11 years, Alan was also Capt. Moorse in the CCF, taking charge of the Signals Division. As a result, he derived the inevitable yet affectionate nickname ‘Dotty’ from students for obvious reasons!Alan said he enjoyed having lunch with us and was very pleased to meet so many of his former charges again after such a long period of time. He said after the event…..” I personally was overwhelmed by the number of people who wanted to talk to me and thank me for helping them with their education, in more aspects than in the classroom. I had no idea that I had left such an impression behind me when I left HCS. “AJM left the Cathedral School in the summer of 1963 to take up another teaching post in Kent so it seemed quite appropriate that we should provide a warm welcome to him as our special guest this year, it being exactly fifty years since he last stood in front of us as our teacher at HCS.
