Wynne Llewelyn Griffiths (OH 1933-1940)
09/06/2006
It is with regret that I advise the Club of the death of my father Wynne Llewelyn Griffiths known to his pals as Griff , on 9th June 2006 aged 84. He passed away peacefully at home after a short illness.

While at Hereford he excelled at sports, coxing the 1st IV in 1938 with three wins at Marlow Regatta losing only to Cheltenham College. WLG also played for the HCS 1st XV and captained the Cricket 1st XI in 1940. The results that year were - Won 8, Drawn 2, Lost 1.

After leaving the Cathedral School, Griff enlisted in Royal Air Force Auxiliary and was subsequently sent to Canada to learn to fly.

Excelling as a pilot, he was asked to remain in Canada as an instructor, only returning to the UK in 1944. After the war, as a commissioned officer in the RAF, he flew mostly Mosquitos and Meteors attaining the rank of Squadron Leader. After retiring from the RAF he moved to Oxfordshire where he joined Oxfam and put his knowledge of the flying world to good use organising airlifts of aid around the world.
