Martin Baynton

Martin attended the Cathedral Prep School in the 1960’s and when he left, M B initially trained in medicine and studied Electroencephalography ( EEG ) at Great Ormand Street Hospital. In the 1970s he helped to develop biofeedback technologies at the Medical Electronics Unit at Barts Hospital. Baynton had joined the Biofeedback Unit as their first therapist working alongside pioneer Dr Ann Wooley-Hart.

Martin married Diane in the early 1980's and in 1987 they emigrated to New Zealand with their two children Theo and Terri.

Martin Baynton is better known as a writer and illustrator of children's books. Currently living in Australia he has had over thirty titles published with publishers including Walker Books, Penguin, Scholastic and Greenwillow. M B has also illustrated for other writers including Russel Hoban, William Mayne and Kenneth Grahame

Baynton is the creator of the award winning Jane And The Dragon TV series produced in New Zealand by Weta Workshop. They are the company behind The Lord of the Rings and King Kong films.

Baynton is now the creative lead and executive producer of the Jane and the Dragon series which is based on his much loved children's book series of the same name written in the 1980's.
