The Revd Canon David L S ApIvor (OH 1929-1937)
The Club has been informed of the death of Father David ApIvor in Canada. Unfortunately he suffered a heart attack and died on 14th January 2013 in a care home in British Columbia. Having been de-mobbed after serving King & Country during WWII, he followed in the footsteps of his brother C.B.G. ApIvor (OH 1927 – 1933) by training for the priesthood. He was eventually ordained as a C of E Minister, serving in different parishes in the UK before moving to Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) during the 1960’s.In November 2012 he had celebrated 60 years of ministry and, although well over 90 years of age, his passing nevertheless came as a shock to the Canadian community in which he now resided. That’s because he had continued to live quite an active life right up to the end. Although his beloved wife Elsie had already pre-deceased him some three years earlier, on 10th January 2010, David will be much missed by his friends. Some OHs who were at HCS during the 1950’s might recall Canon ApIvor having briefly returned to his old school to assist in teaching scripture whilst a member of the Cathedral clergy.
