Gomer Newman Cosker (OH 1944 - 1947)
Sadly Gomer died on the 9th June 2011 at St. Michaels Hospice near Hereford.

I first met Gomer in 1943 when he came to HCS as a boarder with his 3 brothers, both Gomer and I were in the same form and the whole class benefited by having him with us as he was constantly asking questions. It was at Hereford he developed a passion for cricket, which remained with him throughout his life. Because of his disability he was unable to play so he became the first team scorer. The score sheets were always kept in immaculate condition and were his pride and joy.

Upon leaving school he worked for The National Farmers Union and later forThe Sun Alliance in Cardiff. In 1968 he went to work for the insurance company C&T Bowring in South Arica. Whilst there he met up with a contemporary of his at HCS.Ian Edwards.Gomer became a qualified cricket umpire and started his own cricket team which he called The Noblemen. He returned to the UK in1982 and started his own insurance brokerage business in King street Hereford where he remaind until he retired in 1988. He became a member of the MCC and a vice president of the Radyr cricket club both of which gave him much pleasure, Gomer had a very active mind, and a great sense of humour making an impression upon all who met him----he will be sorely by us all.
