Featuring a team of OH Bell Ringers who rang to celebrate the Schools Anniversary (1381 - 2006) on November 18th 2006. Unfortunately the OH who actually started the School Bell Ringers, Wilfred Moreton M.B.E. died on Monday 13th November so we all felt it would show our appreciation and that of the School to combine the peal as an appreciation memorial.

This photograph was sent in by John G. POUND(OH ' 56 - ' 59) nicknamed Lenny and is believed to have been taken at the end of the school academic year, when boys had a chance to relax and let their hair (and headgear !) down after sitting their exams.

Seen here from L to R are: V J Collingridge; T J Pringle; I G F Harwood; J G Pound; I A D French; P Garland

PS> If anyone from the Fifties HCS era can recall precisely what these lads were doing in The Close, just outside the South Door of the Cathedral, please contact the Membership Secretary with your comments. We'd love to know more

This is one of 2 pictures submitted to the OH Photo Gallery showing Her Majesty on an official visit to Herefordshire after some five years into her reign. It features a very young Queen Elizabeth entering HUFC football ground in Edgar Street accompanied by HR Prince Philip.

The royal party had earlier attended a special service at the Cathedral, at which she carried out the ancient ceremony of handing out Maundy Money to a selected group of citizens of the County.

After a Banquet in the Town Hall, the Royal Couple toured historic sites around the City and, later that afternoon, were taken to the football ground to greet the Youth of the City of Hereford.

This particular shot shows a contingent of HCS CCF Cadets smartly stood to attention at the entrance to the ground. We had been given the honour of lining the route into the stadium as Her Majesty and Prince Philip, accompanied by the Lord Lieutenant Sir Richard Cotterell, are escorted to their waiting vehicle.

Another picture taken during the Royal visit to Herefordshire in 1957 showing Her Majesty having already boarded the open topped vehicle ready to greet the school children inside Edgar Street Football Ground.

The Lord Lieutanant for Herefordshire, Sir Richard Cotterell Bt CBE TD, can be seen ushering HRH aboard.

SUO AE Rowe is saluting the distinguished visitors with Sgt J Daybell to the right and Matron is behind them proudly stood with arms behind her back.
